Our music emanates from playing around with sounds, imitations, noises and a broad spectrum of influences. And 'playing around' is indeed an appropriate term since we are trying this and that — and this is what makes us happy like kids. As a consequence, our style has a component of improvisation. What is the nature of that style?
Many years ago, Achim and René had begun to build their own platform of bass and vocal percussion in private jam sessions. As they were having a good time with that kind of music, and since they had more ideas than they had voices, they thought about forming a concept in order to bring this on stage some day.
Right from the start, it was clear that there would not be any covered music but the
inspiration would have to come from inside. And thus, it is beat-like sounds and auspicious
melodies that serve as seed for an idea, sometimes becoming a song that is arranged into
detail and that is performed live on stage.
Subconscious Love, as an example, emerged out of the 'beep' from the telephone receiver.
It served as a background pattern, to which we added a bass line that was already in our heads
that day, and a choir. The lead vocals and the lyrics were added later but the arrangement
was set.
The musical impact of every band member is essential for the progress of our music. And as we are six people with very different experiences in terms of acappella and non-acappella music, it is very exciting to see how each of us interprets the songs. — We practice vocal cross-fertilization! This way, we create colors and sounds, grooves and new ideas that invite to test new things.
